Construction of a Multipurpose Passenger-cum-Cargo Wharf at Kollam Port, one of the 17 minor ports in Kerala under the State Government which is the most advanced in infrastructure for berthing and loading and unloading of passengers from abroad and Lakshadweep commenced on 01/10/2015 and completed on 01/09/2019.

A 100 m long multi-purpose passenger-cum-cargo wharf has been constructed in addition to the existing 178 m wharf. It also has a comfortable berth of 278 meters length and 8 meters depth. For emigration facilities, a counter opening facility has been provided above the Mechanical Engineering Workshop. Crew Change which is currently taking place at Vizhinjam Port can also be started at Kollam Port if the necessary equipments and net connection are available to the Immigration Office. Also, the construction works of gate house, workshop, administration block etc. are included in the Project.
