It was the day when Beypur's eternal wish came true. After four meters of dredging 15 years ago, Beypur port is again witnessing a capital dredging. This time, dredging is being done to increase the depth of the port to five and a half meters at a cost of around 12 crore rupees.
In a meeting presided over by Hon'ble Minister of Public Works and Beypur MLA, Mr. Mohammad Riaz, the Hon'ble Minister of Archeology and Archeology Department of Port Museum, Mr. Ahmed Devarkovil officially inaugurated the dredging. Kozhikode municipal representatives, political party leaders, Kerala Maritime Board Chairman Shri. NS Pillai, Malabar Development Council President Chevalier CE Chakunni, Kerala Maritime Board Member Shri. Kasim Irgur, Chief Executive Officer Mr. TP Salim Kumar, Deputy Director Capt. Ashwani Pratap, Port Officer Capt. Mr. Sejo Gordius, Chief Engineer, Harbor Engineering Department. Jomon K. George, Chief Hydrographer Mr. V Jerosh Kumar and representatives of various organizations witnessed this grand event.
With the coming of Vizhinjam International Port Project, the Kerala Maritime Board is moving forward with the aim of making the small ports of Kerala ready for coastal shipping!
