Kollam port has received ISPS approval

Kollam Port has been approved for lSPS (International Shipping and Port Security Code) prescribed by the International Maritime Organization under the United Nations. The document of complaint was issued today by the Marine Merchant Department under the Ministry of Shipping and Ports under the Central Government. ISPS approval is mandatory for international vessels to use the service. The board hopes to get this approval for Vizhinjam also in the next week.

Kerala Maritime Board has started efforts to get ISPS approval for small ports as part of the government's stand to make the small ports of Kerala functional as part of Vizhinjam international container port. This achievement will be a milestone in the backward development of the state.
