Overview

In order to promote Coastal Shipping and to reduce the congestion on roads, the Government has introduced incentive schemes as below.

1. Government approved the operational incentive @ 50% of the road transportation cost to the ports of KoIlam/ Beypore/ Azhikkal at the rates prevalent form Cochin Port/Vallarpadam Container Terminal. As per, Government Order the incentive for Coastal Shipping has been fixed at the rate of 10% above the road transportation cost as per the NATPAC study report (as base rate) for a period of six months.

2. The Chief Executive Officer, Kerala Maritime Board requested to extend the operational incentive for coastal shipping for a further period of 3 years till the business in the minor ports are stabilized.

3. Government has examined the matter in detail, and are pleased to extend the operational incentive for Coastal Shipping in the minor ports in the State at the rate of 10%. above the road transportation cost as per the NATPAC study report, for one year from the date of this order(23-01-2021).
