The Land Management Unit was established to survey and protect the total land of 17 non-major ports under the control of the Kerala Maritime Board. The plan is to locate and protect the lands owned by the board as per the Indian Ports Act, 1908 and the Kerala Maritime Board Act, 2017. Ret. Deputy Collector V.K. Under the leadership of Balan, Rt. Survey Deputy Superintendent Chandrabhanu, Rtd. Tehsildar K. Ravindran are members of the committee. Its headquarters are on the first floor of the Kozhikode Port Conservator's Office. Illegal encroachments and constructions on Kerala Maritime Board's land and projects without legal MoUs will be vacated once this report is available. Also, the land and buildings owned by the Maritime Board in the state will be acquired by the entrepreneurs under the PPP system. The first step of this is the formation of Land Management Unit.
